Hundreds take to downtown Toronto to celebrate International Women’s Day

Home / Blog / Hundreds take to downtown Toronto to celebrate International Women’s Day
Amazing turnout at the International Women’s Day march this past Saturday! It was nice to see so many members and their family and friends… and on top of that, we bumped into Mayor Olivia Chow! The theme for this year’s march was “No One is Free Until We Are All Free.” We hope everyone had a good time, and we look forward to seeing library workers at next year’s event.

Special mention goes to Local 4948 member Ania Poradzisz, who not only joined the parade and proudly waved our flag, but was also interviewed by the CBC about the importance of the event

October 18th 2024 is Canadian Library Workers Day!

On this day we celebrated all the incredible library workers—whether in private, government, corporate, academic, school or public libraries—for their endless dedication to the services they provide to their communities.

Local 4948 joined other Canadian library unions at the recent CUPE National Sectors Conference, to wish library workers across the country a Happy Canadian Library Workers Day, and a Happy Canadian Library Month!
